Lose weight the healthy way with West Kensington Pilates
There are countless ways to lose weight. Dieting pills, diet plans, intense workout routines, and even cosmetic surgery just to graze the tip of the iceberg.
There are even coffee and juice products that claim to aid in weight loss. So really, it’s a whole market out there.
It will just depend on the person to choose which will be the most suited for them.
But then the next question is: Can you maintain it?
That’s often where the dead-end is, as dieting requires intense determination and dedication.
Oftentimes, a person fails to reach his or her weight loss goal because their chosen method might be too difficult, too expensive, or just too much for the body to take.
So again, there are countless ways to lose weight– but only some of them have proven to be effective.
One such method is by exercising- a reliable way that’s probably a tale as old as time.
And no, we don’t mean the type of exercise where you overwork yourself and end up dreading going back for more.
We mean the gentle yet effective and body-friendly type of exercise called Pilates.
Who can benefit from West Kensington Pilates?
If you’re in Kensington, maybe you have been to gyms such as 37 degrees health and fitness or at Equinox.
Or, maybe you like getting your fitness fix surrounded by nature. After all, nothing lovelier than an early morning run around Bishops Park.
West Kensington isn’t lacking in terms of places to go when you want to have a stretch and sweat.
But for those who are aiming to lose weight, going to the gym can be intimidating, and running around parks may not be the best option.
If you’re looking for a form of exercise that you can safely and effectively do at home, then Pilates is the one for you.
Pilates is a more relaxed method when you want to target specific areas of your body, but it can also act as a full-body workout. It’s that flexible (no pun intended).
Consistency is key when you want to lose weight. You have to keep a regime that you can incorporate into your daily routine.
But it’s not over once you achieve your goal, as it is just as important to keep the weight off and maintain your weight.
That’s why having an exercise pattern that you enjoy sincerely is a vital part of the process.
Transitioning to a healthier lifestyle should also be just as healthy for your mentality as well. Pilates promotes mind and body balance, so these two important variables to reach your goal are in perfect alignment.
It is a very effective way to lose weight while staying stress-free. Pilates can also aid in anxiety problems and even increase your self-esteem.
What types of Pilates exercises are best for losing weight?
Here are some recommended Pilates moves that will surely help you shed those unwanted pounds.
Criss Cross
Let’s start with an easy one- a perfect move for beginners starting on Pilates.
Lie on your back with your hands at the back of your head, layered. Keep your feet together and start the exercise by lifting your left leg to meet your right elbow, and then the right leg for the left elbow. Do 10 repetitions per set.
V-Ups
If you want to target belly fat, then this is the Pilates move you have to incorporate into your routine.
Start by settling down on your mat with your back on the floor. Now form a V (where it got the name) by sitting up and lifting your legs at the same time. Your torso should act as an anchor to keep you balanced. Hold the position for 5-10 seconds and then relax. Do 5 repetitions.
Swan Pose
You won’t be needing a swimming pool to do this move. In the Pilates repertoire, this is an effective stance when you want to lose back fat and have a shaper bum.
Start by lying flat on your front, forehead pressed onto the mat as well. Slowly lift your upper body by sliding up with the help of your arms propped on the mat. Keep your toes pointed and legs together as you arch your back and your chest out. Hold for 10 seconds and then release.
